Item trackers

Item trackers

Item trackers are small Bluetooth tags that help you find keys, bags, wallets and luggage, together with the holders and accessories that attach them. They suit anyone who regularly misplaces everyday items or travels with checked baggage. Our range includes products from Apple, Belkin, Samsung and Fixed.

Most are sized for a key ring or bag strap, so they add very little bulk.

How to choose an item tracker

Match your phone. Trackers work through a particular phone ecosystem. Apple AirTag and similar Find My trackers need an iPhone, while Samsung tags are built around Galaxy phones. Check this first, because a tracker on the wrong platform will not work properly.

Consider how you will attach it. Keys, backpacks and suitcases each need a different fitting. Many trackers have no built-in loop, so a holder or key ring accessory is often needed. Card-shaped trackers are made to slide into a wallet instead.

Understand what location means. Most item trackers do not contain GPS. They connect by Bluetooth to your phone when it is nearby, and to other compatible phones when they are further away. This works well in busy places and less well in remote areas.

Look at the sound and finding features. A built-in speaker helps you locate keys that have slipped under a sofa cushion. Some trackers also support precision finding, which shows direction on your phone screen. This is useful in a large house or office.

Check the battery. Most trackers use a replaceable coin cell, which is easier to live with than a sealed battery you must charge. Choose a replaceable battery if you want to fit it and forget about it.

Item tracker brands we carry

  • Apple: maker of AirTag, which uses the Find My network and supports precision finding on compatible iPhones.
  • Belkin: known for phone and Apple-focused accessories, including holders and cases that let a tracker be fixed to bags and keys.
  • Samsung: offers its tags through the SmartThings ecosystem, so they are aimed at Galaxy phone owners.
  • Fixed: a Czech accessories brand that offers trackers compatible with Apple's Find My network.

Also in our range: Mili, Fresh 'n Rebel, Hama and Gembird.

Item tracker FAQ

Does an AirTag work with Android phones?

No, an AirTag needs an iPhone to be set up and to show its location. Android users should look for a tracker made for their own phone ecosystem, such as a Samsung tag with a Galaxy phone. Always check compatibility before buying.

Do item trackers have GPS?

Most do not. They use Bluetooth to talk to your phone when you are close by, and rely on other compatible phones passing nearby to report their position when you are further away. That means they find lost items well in towns and airports, but are less dependable in empty areas.

How do I attach a tracker to my keys or bag?

Use a holder, key ring or case designed for your tracker. Many trackers are smooth discs without a hole, so they need an accessory to hang from keys, a backpack zip or a luggage handle. Card-style trackers can instead be slipped into a wallet or a laptop bag pocket.

How long does a tracker battery last?

It depends on the model, but many trackers with a replaceable coin cell run for around a year of normal use. When the battery is low, the app usually tells you, and you simply swap the cell. Rechargeable models need charging from time to time instead.
