Other extras

Other extras covers mobile accessories that sit outside the usual case and charger aisles: styluses, holders, stands and tripods, keyboards and mice, docks and hubs, phone lenses and trackers. It suits owners of phones and tablets who want to add one specific function. Brands in our range include Samsung, Hama, PanzerGlass and OtterBox.

How to choose mobile accessories

Compatibility. Check the exact model of your phone or tablet before anything else. Styluses, docks and cases are often made for particular devices, and an active stylus usually works only with the tablets and phones it was designed for. Holders, tripods and Bluetooth keyboards are more flexible, but still check clamp width and supported operating systems.

The job it needs to do. A stylus suits note-taking and drawing, a tripod or stand suits video calls and filming, and a clip-on lens suits close-up or wide-angle photography. Decide on the task first, then compare products within that subcategory, because a cheap all-in-one rarely does any single job well.

Connection and power. Keyboards, mice and some styluses connect over Bluetooth, while docks and hubs rely on USB-C. Make sure your device has the port or Bluetooth version the accessory needs. For items with a battery, such as trackers or wireless keyboards, find out whether they are rechargeable or use replaceable cells.

Build and stability. For stands and tripods, look at the weight the mount can carry and whether the grip suits a phone in a thick case. For anything that travels in a bag, such as keyboards, hubs and lenses, a firm hinge, a protective pouch or a folding design makes a practical difference.

Frequently asked questions about mobile accessories

Does every stylus work with every tablet?

No. Simple capacitive styluses work on almost any touchscreen, but active styluses with pressure sensitivity and palm rejection are made for specific devices. Check the compatibility list for your exact tablet or phone model before buying.

Can I use a keyboard and mouse with a phone or tablet?

Yes, in most cases. Bluetooth keyboards and mice pair with phones and tablets running Android or iPadOS, and wired ones can work through a USB-C adapter or hub. Mouse support varies by operating system version, so check the product details first.

How do I choose a phone holder or tripod?

Choose by use: a desk stand for video calls, a flexible or full-size tripod for filming, a car or bike holder for navigation. Check that the clamp opens wide enough for your phone in its case and that the tripod can carry its weight without tipping.

What does a docks and hubs accessory do?

A dock or hub adds ports to a phone or tablet through its USB-C connector. Depending on the model, this can mean HDMI output, USB-A sockets, card readers or an Ethernet connection. Your device must support video output and data over USB-C for every function to work.
