Home & office monitors

Home & office monitors

Home and office monitors in our range run from 21.5-inch Full HD screens for everyday desk work to QHD, 4K and 5K, USB-C docking, portable and OLED models. They suit home workers, students and businesses equipping a team. Leading brands include HP, Dell, Lenovo, iiyama and Samsung.

How to choose a home or office monitor

Size and resolution. Most monitors in our range measure between 23.8 and 27 inches. A 23.8-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) screen is sharp enough for documents at normal desk distance, while 27 inches is more comfortable at QHD (2560 x 1440), which leaves room for two windows side by side. 4K (3840 x 2160) makes sense from 27 inches upwards if you work with photos or dense spreadsheets and are happy to scale the text.

Panel type. IPS is the most common panel in our range and gives wide viewing angles and steady colour, which helps when a screen is shared or used for photo editing. VA panels offer deeper blacks and higher contrast but narrower viewing angles. IPS Black variants improve contrast, and OLED models give the deepest blacks, though long hours of static windows and toolbars are worth thinking about.

Connections. Many monitors here have a single HDMI port, so look for two HDMI inputs or DisplayPort if you want to switch between a desktop and a laptop. USB-C with power delivery lets a laptop carry picture, data and charging over one cable, and it is worth checking that the monitor's charging wattage matches your laptop.

Refresh rate. 60 Hz is enough for documents and video calls. 75 and 100 Hz, both widely available in our range, make scrolling and cursor movement feel smoother. Models at 120, 144 and 180 Hz are mainly of interest if you also play fast games.

Ergonomics and aspect ratio. Height adjustment, tilt, swivel and pivot matter more than most spec-sheet numbers if you sit at a desk all day. A VESA mount lets you fit an arm instead. The 16:10 models (such as 1920 x 1200) show more vertical space than standard 16:9, which suits text-heavy work.

Frequently asked questions about home and office monitors

What size monitor is best for a home office?

A 24 to 27-inch monitor suits most home offices. 23.8 inches works well on a smaller desk, while 27 inches gives more room for multiple windows. If you sit close to the screen, a 27-inch model is best paired with QHD resolution rather than Full HD.

Is Full HD enough or should I choose QHD?

Full HD is enough for email, web browsing and documents on screens up to about 24 inches. On a 27-inch screen, QHD looks noticeably sharper and fits more content. Choose 4K only if you edit photos or video, or need very fine detail.

Do I need a USB-C monitor for my laptop?

No, but it makes a laptop setup much tidier. A USB-C monitor with power delivery carries video, data and charging over a single cable, and some models add USB ports for a keyboard and mouse. Your laptop needs a USB-C port that supports video output for this to work.

Should I choose an IPS or VA monitor for office work?

IPS is the safer choice for most office work because colours and brightness stay consistent when you view the screen from the side. VA panels have stronger contrast and deeper blacks, which suits dim rooms and films. For photo editing, IPS is usually the better fit.
