Drill and driver accessories

Drill and driver accessories

Drill and driver accessories extend or support the cordless drills, impact drivers and screwdrivers you already own. They suit homeowners, tradespeople and workshop users who want to keep a tool working or widen the jobs it can do.

Our range of more than 15 products comes mainly from Makita, Neo Tools, Bosch and Yato.

How to choose drill and driver accessories

Compatibility with your tool. Check the brand and system first. Battery packs, chargers and many brand-specific add-ons only work within one manufacturer's platform, so a Makita part will not normally suit a Bosch or DeWalt tool. Look at the voltage and the model range listed on the product page before you order.

Shank and chuck fit. Bits and holders must match your tool's chuck. Most impact drivers take 1/4 inch hex bits, while keyless chucks on drill drivers usually clamp round or hex shanks up to 10 or 13 mm. Hammer drills that use SDS fittings need SDS bits, and standard round-shank bits will not lock in correctly.

Material you are working with. Wood, metal, masonry and plasterboard each need different bit geometry and coatings. Masonry bits have a carbide tip, metal bits are usually made from high-speed steel, and wood bits often have a centre point for clean starts. A bit used on the wrong material wears quickly and drills poorly.

Single items or sets. A set covers common sizes and bit types in one case, which is useful if you are building up a toolbox. A single item makes more sense when you need one specific size or a replacement for something worn out. Sets are easier to keep organised, but check that the sizes are the ones you actually use.

Build quality and intended use. Professional users who drill or drive screws daily should look for hardened, precision-made parts from established tool makers. Occasional DIY jobs rarely need that level of durability, and a simpler accessory from a value brand often does the job.

Drill and driver accessory brands we carry

  • Makita: Japanese manufacturer known for its 18V LXT cordless platform, where one battery fits a large number of the brand's tools. It has the largest presence in this category in our range.
  • Neo Tools and Yato: Polish brands focused on hand tools, power tools and workshop accessories at accessible prices, popular with DIY users and small trades.
  • Bosch: German brand with a professional blue line and a green DIY line, widely known for drill bits, driver bits and cordless tool systems.
  • DeWalt: American brand recognisable by its yellow and black tools, known for the 18V XR and FlexVolt cordless systems used on building sites.

Also in our range: Digitus.

Frequently asked questions about drill and driver accessories

Are drill and driver accessories interchangeable between brands?

Bits and most holders are largely interchangeable if the shank type matches, for example 1/4 inch hex or SDS. Batteries and chargers are generally not, because each manufacturer uses its own fitting and electronics. Always match these to the brand and voltage of your tool.

What is the difference between a drill bit and a driver bit?

A drill bit cuts a hole in a material, while a driver bit turns a screw. Drill bits have cutting edges and flutes to clear waste, and driver bits have a tip shaped to fit a screw head, such as Phillips, Pozidriv, Torx or flat. The two are not substitutes for each other.

Which drill bits should I use for concrete or brick?

Use masonry bits with a carbide tip, and run them in a hammer drill or rotary hammer where possible. Standard metal or wood bits will blunt almost immediately in concrete. For SDS tools, you need bits with the matching SDS shank.

Can I use an impact driver bit in a normal drill?

Yes, a hex-shank bit usually fits a standard keyless chuck without trouble. Bits designed for impact drivers are tougher and handle sudden torque better, so they are a good general choice for driving screws. Ordinary bits may snap or round off when used in an impact driver.
