Chargers and power banks

Chargers and power banks

This category contains mains chargers and power banks for smartphones and other mobile devices, for anyone who needs a spare charger at home, in the office or on the move. Brands in our range include ZENS, Motorola, eStuff, realme and Celly, and several models offer USB Type-C output.

How to choose a charger or power bank

Power output. Match the wattage to the device you charge most often. Our range includes chargers rated at 20 W, 24 W, 68 W and 125 W. Around 20 W is enough for fast charging most phones, while higher ratings suit tablets and some laptops, provided the device supports that power level.

Ports and connectors. Check how many USB Type-C ports you need. Chargers in our range have one or two, and a second port lets you charge a phone and earbuds or a tablet from one wall socket. When both ports are in use, the total power is often shared between them.

Compatibility. Some products are listed as universal, others specifically for smartphones. Manufacturer fast-charging systems, such as Motorola TurboPower or realme SuperVOOC, usually need a matching phone and cable to reach their top speed. On any other device the charger normally falls back to a standard charging mode.

Mains input. The AC chargers in our range accept 100 to 240 V, so they work with the local supply and also abroad with a plug adapter. This matters if you travel and want one charger for every trip.

Power bank capacity. Capacity is given in mAh. A 10,000 mAh power bank gives many phones roughly two full charges, though conversion losses reduce the real figure. Also look at the output wattage, because a large battery with a low output charges slowly.

Chargers and power banks by brand

  • ZENS: a Dutch brand known for wireless and Qi charging products, and the largest brand in this category in our range.
  • Motorola: a phone maker whose TurboPower fast-charging chargers are designed to pair with its own handsets.
  • realme: a phone maker known for its SuperVOOC fast-charging technology, which works best with realme phones.

Also in our range: eStuff and Celly.

Frequently asked questions about chargers and power banks

What wattage charger do I need for my phone?

Most phones charge quickly on a charger of about 20 W. Some models accept more, but a phone only draws the power it supports, so a higher wattage does not harm it. Check your phone's specifications for its maximum charging speed before paying for extra power.

Can I use a fast charger with any phone?

Yes, in most cases, because fast chargers are built to lower their output to suit the device. Your phone will charge at the speed it supports. Brand-specific systems may only reach full speed with the same brand of phone and the right cable.

Is a higher-wattage charger safe for my device?

A higher-wattage charger is generally safe, since the device controls how much power it draws. A 65 W charger will not push 65 W into a phone that accepts 20 W. Use a charger from a known brand and a cable rated for the power level.

How big should a power bank be?

A capacity of 10,000 mAh suits daily phone use and gives roughly two charges for many handsets. Larger capacities suit tablets, several devices or long trips, but they are heavier. Choose by how many charges you need between wall sockets and how much weight you will carry.
