Speaker mounts and stands

Speaker mounts and stands

Speaker mounts and stands hold speakers, soundbars and other audio equipment on a wall, a ceiling or a floor or desk surface. They suit anyone who wants sound at the right height without giving up shelf space. Our range is a small, focused selection from SBOX, NEOMOUNTS and FANVIL.

How to choose a speaker mount or stand

Mount type. Wall mounts keep the floor clear and place speakers at a fixed height. Ceiling mounts suit rooms where wall space is limited, and stands let you move speakers without drilling. Pick the type that matches where the speaker will actually sit, not where it looks tidiest on paper.

Weight and size compatibility. Check the maximum load the mount is rated for and compare it with the weight of your speaker, including any cables pulling on it. Also check that the supporting plate or arm fits the speaker's dimensions and its fixing points. A mount rated close to the speaker's weight leaves little safety margin.

Fixing method. Some speakers have threaded inserts or keyhole slots, while others have none and need a bracket that clamps or wraps around the body. Confirm which fixing your speaker uses before you buy, because a mount that cannot attach securely is of no use however well it is built.

Wall and fixings. Brick, concrete and plasterboard each need different plugs and screws. Plasterboard in particular needs suitable cavity fixings or a stud to take the load. Check whether fixings are supplied and whether they match your wall.

Adjustability. Tilt and swivel let you aim the speaker towards the listening position, which matters most for stereo pairs and surround speakers. A fixed bracket is simpler and often sits closer to the wall, but it gives you no chance to correct the angle later.

Brands we carry

  • NEOMOUNTS: a brand best known for TV mounts, monitor arms and desk mounting solutions, so its brackets are built around adjustable positioning and cable management.

Also in our range: SBOX and FANVIL.

Frequently asked questions about speaker mounts and stands

Can I wall mount any speaker?

No, not every speaker is designed to be wall mounted. The speaker needs suitable fixing points, such as threaded inserts or keyhole slots, or a bracket made for its body shape. Check the manufacturer's guidance and the mount's weight rating before drilling.

What is the difference between a speaker mount and a speaker stand?

A mount attaches the speaker to a wall or ceiling, while a stand supports it from the floor or a surface. Mounts save floor space and fix the height. Stands are easier to reposition and need no drilling, which helps in rented homes.

How high should I place my speakers?

Aim to place the tweeter, the small driver that produces high frequencies, at roughly ear height when you are seated. Speakers placed much higher or lower can sound less clear at the listening position. If you must mount high, a mount that tilts downwards helps direct the sound towards you.

Do I need special fixings for a plasterboard wall?

Yes, plasterboard alone cannot carry much weight, so you need cavity fixings rated for the load or you must screw into a stud. Brick and concrete walls need masonry plugs instead. Always match the fixings to both your wall type and the combined weight of the mount and speaker.
