This InLine® USB mini Y-cable is used for combined data and power transmission for external devices with a mini USB-B connection. It is primarily used for external 2.5-inch hard drive enclosures that draw their power supply via the USB connection.
The Y-design with two USB-A plugs allows additional power to be supplied via a second USB port. This requires that the connected device is designed for this type of power supply. The cable itself does not provide any active power boost.
The 5-pin mini USB-B connector enables simultaneous data transfer and power supply via one interface. The cable is primarily suitable as a replacement or service cable for existing installations and supports the reliable operation of compatible devices without additional power supplies or active components.
