Silent cases are mid tower PC cases built to keep noise down with sound-dampening panels, closed front panels and large, slow-turning fans. They suit quiet desktops, home office builds and media PCs. Our range has more than 15 models from Fractal Design, be quiet!, Phanteks and Cooler Master, plus HAVN.
How to choose a silent case
Noise reduction against airflow. Dampening material and solid panels absorb fan and drive noise, but they also restrict the air going in, so a closed case needs good fans to stay cool. Several cases in our range ship with a 140 mm front fan already fitted, and larger fans move the same air at a lower speed and a lower pitch than small ones.
Motherboard size. Most silent mid towers take ATX, micro ATX and Mini-ITX boards, and some also accept EATX for workstation builds. Check your board's form factor before you order, because a larger case does not guarantee support for the biggest boards.
Cooling and radiator space. Some cases in our range support top radiators up to 360 mm, others stop at 240 mm or take 120 and 140 mm models. Front fan mounts range up to three fans. A liquid cooler or a large air cooler lets the CPU stay cool at low fan speeds, which is the main way to keep a silent build quiet under load.
Power supply, graphics card and storage. The maximum power supply length in our range runs from 18 cm to almost 29 cm, so confirm that your unit fits, especially with a cover over the PSU bay. Cases with 5 to 7 bays for 2.5" drives suit builds with several SSDs. Front USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports vary from none to two, so check the front panel if you plug in drives or headsets often.
Brands we carry
- Fractal Design: a Swedish brand known for the Define series, which combines sound-dampening panels with a plain, understated look. It is the largest brand in this category.
- be quiet!: a German company that focuses on low-noise PC hardware, including cases, power supplies and coolers, so its cases are designed around quiet operation.
- Phanteks and Cooler Master: Phanteks is known for its Eclipse and Enthoo cases with flexible cooling layouts. Cooler Master has made cases and cooling parts for many years and offers several mid tower designs.
Also in our range: HAVN.
Silent case FAQ
What makes a PC case quiet?
A quiet case combines sound-dampening material on the panels, a closed or filtered front, and large fans that spin slowly. Rubber grommets and vibration-damped drive mounts also reduce hum. The components inside still decide how much noise the PC makes, so choose quiet fans and coolers as well.
Do silent cases run hotter than other cases?
They can, because closed panels and dampening reduce airflow compared with a mesh front. Good fan placement and a few 140 mm fans keep temperatures in check for most systems. If you plan a very hot CPU and graphics card combination, check how many fans and which radiator sizes the case supports.
Which motherboard sizes fit a silent mid tower?
Most mid tower silent cases take ATX, micro ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards. Some models in our range also support EATX. Always check the specifications of the exact case, as support differs between models.
Can I fit a liquid cooler in a silent case?
Yes, many silent cases have room for a radiator at the top or front. In our range, top radiator support runs from 120 mm up to 360 mm depending on the model. Measure your radiator and check clearance for memory and the motherboard heatsinks before buying.
