Gaming monitors

Gaming monitors

Gaming monitors in our range run from Full HD and QHD (1440p) screens to 4K UHD, OLED and ultrawide models. They suit players who want smoother motion and lower input lag than a standard office display gives. Leading brands include ACER, MSI, ASUS and GIGABYTE, with over 350 models to compare.

How to choose a gaming monitor

Resolution and screen size. Full HD is the most affordable route and works well on screens of about 24 to 25 inches. The 27-inch size is the most common in our range and pairs well with QHD (2560 x 1440), which is noticeably sharper without demanding a top-end graphics card. 4K UHD and 3440 x 1440 ultrawide panels look impressive, but they need a strong graphics card to hold high frame rates.

Refresh rate. Our range covers roughly 144 Hz to 320 Hz, with 180 Hz, 200 Hz and 240 Hz all well represented. A higher figure only helps if your PC can produce that many frames per second. For single-player games 144 Hz to 165 Hz is already smooth, while fast competitive shooters benefit from 240 Hz and above.

Panel type. IPS panels, including Fast IPS and Rapid IPS variants, offer good colour and wide viewing angles. VA panels usually deliver deeper blacks and higher contrast, but motion handling varies between models. OLED gives true blacks and very fast pixel response, though static elements such as health bars can cause image retention if the screen is used heavily for years.

Ports and connections. Most monitors here have two HDMI ports, and a smaller number have just one. DisplayPort is often the better connection for reaching the highest refresh rates on a PC. If you plan to connect a console, check that the HDMI version supports the resolution and refresh rate you want, for example 4K at 120 Hz.

Gaming monitor FAQ

What refresh rate do I need for a gaming monitor?

For most players 144 Hz to 165 Hz is a sensible starting point, and it is a clear step up from a standard 60 Hz screen. Competitive players of fast shooters often choose 240 Hz or more. Check that your graphics card can actually reach those frame rates in the games you play.

Is a QHD gaming monitor better than Full HD?

QHD (2560 x 1440) is sharper than Full HD, especially on a 27-inch screen where Full HD pixels become easier to spot. It does need a more capable graphics card to reach the same frame rates. If your PC is modest or you prioritise very high refresh rates, Full HD is still a practical choice.

Are OLED gaming monitors worth it?

OLED gaming monitors are worth considering if you value deep blacks, strong contrast and very fast pixel response. The trade-off is the risk of image retention when the same static elements stay on screen for long periods. Varying your content and using the screen-saving features built into most OLED monitors reduces that risk.

Can I use a gaming monitor with a console?

Yes, most gaming monitors with an HDMI port work with consoles. To get 4K at 120 Hz you need a monitor with an HDMI 2.1 connection, so check the specifications before buying. For 1080p or 1440p play, a standard HDMI connection is often enough.
