Ultrawide gaming monitors

Ultrawide gaming monitors

Ultrawide gaming monitors in our range are mostly 34-inch 21:9 screens, with a few larger 32:9 models up to 52 inches. They suit racing, flight and open-world players, and anyone who wants extra desk workspace. Brands include Samsung, Dell, Acer, LG and MSI.

How to choose an ultrawide gaming monitor

Size and aspect ratio. The 34-inch 21:9 screen is the most common format in our range and fits most desks. The 32:9 models (49 and 52 inches) are roughly two 16:9 screens side by side, so you need a deep desk and should sit a good arm's length away.

Resolution. The 3440 x 1440 pixel resolution is the most frequent choice and gives sharp detail without demanding as much from the graphics card as 4K. Resolutions of 5120 x 1440 and 5120 x 2160 appear on the larger screens and need a strong graphics card to run games smoothly.

Panel type. VA panels dominate our range and offer deep contrast, which helps in dark games. IPS panels give wider viewing angles and more consistent colour, while OLED delivers near-instant response and true blacks. Check the specification sheet for the panel technology before you buy.

Refresh rate. Models in our range run from 155 Hz up to 240 Hz. A higher figure only helps if your graphics card can produce that many frames per second at the monitor's resolution, so match the refresh rate to your hardware rather than chasing the highest number.

Connections. Many monitors here list a single DisplayPort, so check how many HDMI and USB ports you need and whether your graphics card can drive the full resolution and refresh rate over the available cable.

Ultrawide gaming monitor FAQ

Are ultrawide monitors good for gaming?

Yes, in games that support ultrawide resolutions. They fill more of your field of view, which many players like in racing, simulation and open-world titles. Some older games and cutscenes show black bars or stretch the image, so check support for the games you play most.

What is the difference between 21:9 and 32:9?

A 32:9 monitor is wider than a 21:9 one, roughly equal to two 16:9 screens side by side. In our range, 21:9 models are typically 34 inches, while 32:9 models are 49 inches or larger. The wider format feels more immersive but needs more desk space and graphics power.

What graphics card do I need for a 3440 x 1440 monitor?

A mid-range to high-end graphics card is usually needed to hold high frame rates at 3440 x 1440. This resolution has about 70 per cent more pixels than 1920 x 1080, so it demands noticeably more than a Full HD display. Lowering graphics settings or using upscaling can help an older card keep up.

Should I choose VA, IPS or OLED?

Choose VA for strong contrast at a moderate cost, IPS for wide viewing angles and accurate colour, and OLED for the fastest response and deepest blacks. VA is the most common type in our range. OLED screens can be prone to image retention if static elements stay on screen for long periods.
