Floor and table lamps in our range include standard LED lamps and smart lamps that can be controlled from a phone or by voice, for living rooms, bedrooms and home offices. Brands include BEPER, Philips, Philips Hue and SwitchBot. With over 50 models available, it helps to decide first whether you want simple lighting or a lamp that joins a smart home.
How to choose a floor or table lamp
Floor or table. A floor lamp lights a whole corner and suits spaces beside a sofa or armchair, where there is no surface to stand a lamp on. A table lamp gives focused light on a desk or bedside table and takes up very little room.
Smart features. Decide whether you need app control, schedules and voice commands, or only a switch. Smart lamps connect through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or a dedicated hub, so check that the lamp works with the assistant and app you already use. Our range covers both basic lamps and smart models, including Philips Hue and SwitchBot.
Brightness and light colour. Reading and desk work need brighter, neutral to cool white light, while a lounge or bedroom is more comfortable with warm white. Look for dimming, adjustable colour temperature or full colour control if you want one lamp to cover several uses.
Bulb and fitting. Some lamps have a built-in LED, which is simple but means the whole lamp is replaced if the light fails. Others take a standard bulb, which gives you freedom to change brightness or fit a smart bulb later. Check the socket type before buying a bulb separately.
Size and cable. Measure the space and check the height and the size of the base, since a heavy base keeps a tall lamp stable. Note the cable length and the position of the switch, because both decide how far the lamp can sit from a wall socket.

Frequently asked questions about floor and table lamps
What is the difference between a smart lamp and a normal lamp?
A smart lamp connects to your home network or phone, while a normal lamp works only with its own switch. Smart lamps usually let you dim the light, change its colour or warmth, set schedules and use voice commands. A normal lamp is simpler and needs no setup.
Do smart lamps need a hub?
Not always. Some smart lamps connect directly through Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, while others work through a hub or bridge, as many lighting systems do. Check the product description to see which connection a lamp uses before you buy.
What light is best for reading?
A neutral to warm white light with adjustable brightness is usually the most comfortable for reading. Cool, very bright light can feel harsh in the evening, so a lamp with dimming or adjustable colour temperature gives you more control. A table lamp or an adjustable floor lamp that can be positioned beside you works best.
Can I put a smart bulb in an ordinary lamp?
Yes, if the lamp has a standard socket and the bulb fits the shade and the fitting. The lamp's own switch must stay on for the bulb to stay connected, so use the app or voice control for everyday use. Lamps with a built-in LED do not allow this, because the light source cannot be replaced.
