How to choose an OLED TV
Screen size. Measure the viewing distance first. The 55 inch and 65 inch sizes are the most common in our range, while 42 inch and 48 inch models suit smaller rooms or a gaming setup at a desk. A 77 inch screen needs a seating distance of around three metres to look comfortable.
Smart platform. The operating system is what you use every day. Our range includes Tizen, webOS, Titan OS and Google TV. Check that it supports the streaming apps you actually use, and that its menus feel quick and simple to you.
Sound. Slim OLED panels leave little room for speakers. Rated speaker power in our range runs from 20 W to 70 W, and many models support Dolby Atmos, with some also offering DTS:X. If you watch a lot of films, a higher figure helps, but most buyers will still pair the TV with a soundbar.
Energy rating. Models in our range fall into classes E, F and G for standard dynamic range. Consumption per 1000 hours varies widely between sizes, from about 52 kWh to over 100 kWh. Larger screens use more power, so compare figures at the same diagonal.
Room and use. OLED handles dark rooms very well because each pixel switches off completely. In a bright room with large windows, look at peak brightness and screen finish. If you play games, check the HDMI ports and refresh rate support in the specification.

What is the difference between OLED and LED TVs?
On an OLED TV each pixel produces its own light, so black areas can be switched off completely. LED TVs use a separate backlight, which can make dark scenes look greyer. OLED usually gives better contrast and viewing angles, while LED models can reach higher peak brightness.
Do OLED TVs suffer from screen burn-in?
Burn-in is possible on OLED panels, but it is uncommon with normal viewing. It is caused by a static image, such as a channel logo or game menu, being shown at high brightness for very long periods. Modern OLED TVs include pixel shifting and refresh routines to reduce the risk.
