UPS accessories

UPS accessories

UPS accessories are the add-ons used with an uninterruptible power supply, such as extra battery capacity, monitoring and communication options, and connection or mounting parts. The category suits anyone who already owns a UPS and wants to extend or adapt it. Our range here is small and currently features items from Power Walker and FSP Group.

How to choose UPS accessories

Compatibility with your UPS. Accessories are normally designed for specific models or product series, so match the exact model name of your UPS against the accessory description. If the manual lists supported options, follow it. Staying with the same manufacturer as your UPS often makes this check simpler.

What you want to achieve. Decide on the problem first. Extra battery modules lengthen runtime, network or monitoring cards allow remote alerts and automatic shutdown, and mounting kits fit a unit into a rack. Buying for a clear purpose avoids paying for features your setup cannot use.

Battery voltage and capacity. For a battery extension, the module must suit the DC voltage of your UPS, and a mismatch can damage both. Runtime depends on the load you connect, measured in watts, so add up the power draw of your router, computer or server before deciding how much extra capacity you need.

Connectors and cables. Check the ports on your UPS, for example USB, RJ45 or IEC power sockets, and make sure the accessory uses the same type. Note the cable length too, since a UPS often sits behind a desk or inside a cabinet.

Form factor. Tower and rack-mount UPS units use different housings. A 19-inch rack accessory is measured in rack units (U), so confirm the free space in your cabinet before ordering.

UPS accessory brands we carry

  • Power Walker: a UPS line from the German company BlueWalker, known for units aimed at home offices, small businesses and server rooms, so its accessories are designed to match those series.
  • FSP Group: a Taiwanese manufacturer, also trading as Fortron, best known for PC power supplies and also making UPS units and related power products.

UPS accessories FAQ

What are UPS accessories?

UPS accessories are optional parts that extend or adapt an uninterruptible power supply. Typical examples are external battery packs, monitoring or network cards, cables and rack-mounting kits. They are bought separately from the UPS itself and must suit its model.

Do I need accessories for my UPS to work?

No, a UPS works on its own once it is plugged in and its battery is charged. Accessories are optional and help only when you need longer runtime, remote monitoring or a different way of mounting or connecting the unit.

Can I use any external battery pack with my UPS?

No, an external battery pack must be made for your UPS model or series. The battery voltage and the connector have to match, otherwise the UPS may not charge it correctly, and the combination could be unsafe. Check the manufacturer's compatibility list before buying.

How long will a UPS run with an extra battery?

Runtime depends on the total battery capacity and the power drawn by your connected equipment. A lighter load, such as a router and a modem, will run far longer than a desktop PC with a monitor. The manufacturer's runtime chart for your UPS model gives the most accurate estimate.
